QSCAT玩完

早前留意到 quikscat 可能就快玩完. 最新消息指出 quikscat 應已失效, 對風迷來說絕對是個壞消息:

The SeaWinds instrument is near the end of its lifetime due to the aging of the antenna rotary joint. The number of data gaps due to variability in the antenna spinning rate is becoming very large. We advise users to discontinue automatic SeaWinds data ingestions, since the data accuracy can not be guaranteed any more.

目前還有兩個 scatterometer 在運作: ASCAT, ERS-2. ERS-2 已很舊資料不齊全, ASCAT 則在去年才投入服務, 但掃瞄的範圍比 quikscat 窄:
